Leadership/Management Training

 

Center for Leadership

LeadingAge Kansas' Center for Leadership is a year-long leadership intensive for individuals working in LeadingAge Kansas member organizations. The participants are chosen through a competitive application process and demonstrate a desire to grow their leadership knowledge in aging services. After completion of the program, they are designated Kansas Fellows and are becoming excellent leaders in our field across the state. The program is 100% member-led with a LeadingAge Kansas staff liaison.

Free Online Management/Supervisory Training

Nurse Leadership Enrichment and Development (NurseLEAD) is an evidence-based training program to help charge nurses and team leaders in nursing homes become more effective coaches, leaders and supervisors of frontline staff. The program consists of an introduction and seven modules. LeadingAge members can access the course for free.

Scholarships

 

LeadingAge Kansas Foundation Scholarships 

LeadingAge Kansas' Foundation hosts a scholarship program underwritten by generous donations from individuals and businesses to provide scholarships for member employees to advance their education in aging services. Applications open in May and are due by August 1st of each year.

KS Board of Regents Scholarships

The Kansas Board of Regents has a number of scholarships available to help students achieve their academic goals.  A few are listed below:

  • Kansas Nursing Service Scholarship
  • Kansas Career Technical Workforce Grant 
  • Kansas Comprehensive Grant
  • Kansas Ethnic Minority Scholarship

KHERF Scholarships

Encouraging Excellence and Innovation is the focus of the Kansas Hospital Education and Research Foundation's annual Health Care Scholarship. Awards will be given in the following categories:

  • Undergraduate Health Care: undergraduate students in non-nursing health care fields. Sample degrees include: Physical Therapy Assistant, Clinical Lab Scientist, Phlebotomy, Pharmacy Technician, Occupational Therapy Assistant and Medical Imaging.
  • Undergraduate Nursing: undergraduate students who have been accepted into a licensed or degreed nursing program. Sample degrees include: Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse and Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Advanced Clinical Practice: graduate level students in any clinical health care discipline. Sample degrees include: Doctorate of Nursing Practice, Master of Social Work, Family Nurse Practitioner, Doctorate of Pharmacy and Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
  • Health Care Administration: students in health care administration, whether under- or graduate level. Sample degrees include: Organizational Leadership, Healthcare Administration, Leadership, Master of Science Management and Healthcare Management – sponsored by the Kansas Association of Health Care Executives.
  • Human Resources: students in health care human resource related field, whether under- or graduate level. Sample degrees include: Human Resources or another degree with a concentration in Human Resources – sponsored by the Kansas Hospital Human Resources Association.
