We will take applications throughout the year

Prior to the pandemic, LeadingAge Kansas had nearly 100 educational opportunities each year including conferences, day-long workshops, and webinars. Our members’ world has completely changed and so have we. Much of our education is virtual  and focused on COVID-19. We are not sure when we will go back to in-person but are hoping to start making the transition back to some events mid-year.

Now, more than ever we continue to seek expert educators on topics our members will find useful and attend. Our education choices are based upon the current long-term care climate and we are laser focused on providing virtual or in-person presentations through an interactive format.

Educational Offerings

You are invited to submit presentation ideas for consideration for our 2021 Education Events based upon the information above. Since our members serve a unique population who are more susceptible to COVID, we will provide virtual  education/training from January – June. We hope to begin including in-person education in July. This tentative plan will be re-evaluated mid-year based upon the state of the pandemic.

Topics

We are specifically looking for interactive presentations on the following topics. Those appearing in the first section are top priority to our members for this upcoming year and will be considered first. Topics from the second section will be considered as the pandemic eases and any proposals outside of these topic areas may be considered but will not be top priority.

If you have an interesting presentation or an idea that could be developed into an educational session, you are invited to submit a proposal. Complete the application and return it by December 31, 2020. To be considered as a speaker, your program must be educational and interactive. Sales presentations will not be accepted. In addition, your material should be original; otherwise, sources must be referenced for us to meet continuing education criteria by state agencies.

Evaluation Criteria

LeadingAge Kansas Education will review all proposals on these criteria:

  •  Topic addresses a critical and timely issues in aging services and is applicable to our target audiences
  • Interactiveness of presentation, with the goal of incorporating non-didactic techniques (sage on the stage)
  • Allows learners to bring home takeaways and tools that provide immediate practical applicability as aging service providers
  • Embodies quality, innovation, and originality
  • Is clear, focused, well-organized, and designed to be interactive
  • Features experienced speaker(s) with significant expertise Other important considerations:
  • Willingness to follow up post-presentation with questions from participants if needed, and/or writing newsletter articles about subject
  • Willingness to make presentations interactive and non-didactic regardless of the topic
  • Willingness to incorporate social media into presentation
  • Willingness (for webinars) to incorporate polling into presentation
  • Willingness to take temp of audience/survey them for engagement
