Webinar: COVID Emotional Recovery -
Improving Quality of Life by Incorporating Expressive Touch in Caregiving

The COVID pandemic and quarantine inflicted devastating effects on the wellbeing of elders residing in skilled nursing facilities.   Separation from family members, boredom, and pervasive feelings of loneliness created a cascade of negative consequences, including depression, apathy, increased symptoms of dementia, and poor general health. Nursing homes need new strategies to elevate resident wellbeing as they navigate the COVID-recovery phase.

Learning Objectives:
1. Identify the unintended emotional and psychological consequences of the pandemic on elders.
2. Validate how human touch promotes well-being.
3. Describe actionable steps that providers can take to incorporate expressive touch into their caregiving protocols.
