Webinar: Caring Through COVID-19 – Navigating the Pandemic

We are implementing many strategies to sufficiently address safety, health and comfort of our residents and staff during the current pandemic. Some of these strategies include updating our facility's Infection Prevention and Control Policies and Procedures; and Emergency Preparedness and Operations. We have established processes to continually observe and ensure that staff are compliant with appropriate practices in hand hygiene, PPE, environmental sanitation, and symptom identification. A solid system has been implemented to restrict all non-essential individuals from visiting the facility; and have a consistent process for the screening and assessment of all persons who are entering the building (including staff, medical directors, attending physicians, and medically essential vendors). The pharmacist consultant has a process of prioritizing and implementing evidence-based recommendations in order to reduce medication burden and staff-to-resident contact.

Presenters:
Betsy Reynolds, PharmD, BCGP is the Director of Pharmacy Consulting with Method Healthcare, LLC. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UMKC in 2008. Shortly after graduation, Betsy began consulting for a long-term care facility and her love of consulting began.  Betsy started the Pharmacy Consulting division of Method Healthcare, LLC in October of 2019. This role includes exploring safer transitions of care, facilitating antibiotic stewardship, managing the use of psychotropics as well as other clinical services.

Rodney Whittington is the CEO of Villa St. Francis, a 170 bed Skilled Nursing Facility in Olathe KS. Rodney is a Health Services Executive, and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator with 20 years of operations experience. Villa St. Francis is a 5 Star rated facility in its 75^th year that is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas.
