2.0 (A) Education can be fun and rewarding for the adult learner when it is organized, meaningful, and presented in a way that sticks! Adult learners need to hear it, see it, and do it. Successful outcomes come from good education. This session will provide the participant with five workable strategies for creating a simple but meaningful education session for staff members working in post-acute care.

1.5 (A)  2018 proved to be a challenging year with numerous changes from CMS. Staying knowledgeable and organized has never been so important. Speakers
Louann Lawson, BA, RN, RAC-CT, CIMT; Pathway Health Services
With nearly 40 years of long term and acute care experience, Louann has been an active member in the health continuum. As a registered nurse, Louann has held multiple clinical and leadership positions that provide her with extensive experience to support and to grow clinical teams. As a Pathway Health consultant, Louann is an educator who has successfully trained hundreds of professionals regarding MDS/Medicare/Medicaid processes, clinical quality initiatives, and reimbursement protocols. Louann has spoken across the nation for multiple organizations and takes it upon herself to be an active member of the healthcare community. She is currently the Clinical Reimbursement Team Leader for Pathway Health.

Susan Chenail RN, CCM, RAC-CT Senior Quality Improvement Analyst; LeadingAge New York
Susan serves are the Senior Quality Improvement Analyst for LeadingAge New York and is a registered nurse. She has held directorships in retirement communities engaged as a part of a CCRC and Assisted Living Centers. 20-years experience as a Certified Case Manager with a major focus in Medicare/ Medicaid reimbursement and 12-years experience as an MDS Coordinator and Quality Manager in a SNF, LTC and dedicated Dementia Care Unit, RAC-CT. She is both an experienced presenter and author in long-term care. 


 

Continuing Education:

This educational event has been approved for up to 10.5 continuing education hours in the core of Administration for Licensed Adult Care Home Administrators, Adult Care Home Operators and Dietitians by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Health Occupations and Credentialing approved provider number (LTS A0009).

LeadingAge Kansas is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 6.5 contact hours applicable for APRN, RN, LPN or LMHT relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing provider number: LT0102-1116.
