TEN LONG-TERM CARE PROFESSIONALS RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIPS
FROM THE LEADINGAGE KANSAS FOUNDATION

TOPEKA, Kan. - Scholarships totaling more than $10,000 will be awarded to ten deserving professionals working in nursing homes across the state to advance their education on Thursday, October 21st during the LeadingAge Kansas Fall Conference and Expo. The scholarships range from assisting with nursing school to helping individuals achieve certifications in dementia care.

“Now, more than ever, we need to honor and support individuals working in nursing homes. All ten of these deserving women have given heart and soul to their residents during the pandemic,” states Dana Weaver, Executive Director. "Helping them advance their education is a significant way we can elevate our profession.”

Scholarship winners include:

  1. Whitney Dill Sunporch of Smith County in Smith Center for pre-requisites for associates nursing program
  2. Rachel Schneider with Parsons Presbyterian Manor in Parsons to go to nursing school to become a Registered Nurse.
  3. Reagan Danker with Via Christi Village in Manhattan for an associate degree in nursing
  4. Hanna McCleary from Protection Valley Manor in Protection for an associate degree in nursing
  5. Christy Tremble with Parsons Presbyterian Manor in Parsons for pre-requisites for associates nursing program
  6. Shekema Tate with Homestead Health Center in Wichita for an associate degree in nursing
  7. Mary Hoffman with F.W. Huston Medical Center to gain Dementia Capable Care Training
  8. Tayci Helm with Locust Grove Village in LaCrosse for a Business/HR Degree
  9. Sarah Culver with Sheridan County Health Complex - LTC in Hoxie to become Resident Assessment Coordinator-Certified
  10. Ariel Kraus from Bethesda Home in Goessel for a master’s degree in music therapy

“Congratulations to these outstanding women,” states Weaver. “We look forward to watching them grow and make a positive impact for their residents and on our field as a whole.”
