The New Survey Process Workshop

The goal of the new survey process is to improve the effectiveness of annual nursing home surveys by combining the traditional and QIS survey protocols. The hope is that improvements will be seen at the population level to reduce adverse events and preventable healthcare acquired conditions and improve care.

This training will offer participants the knowledge needed to prepare and succeed under the new survey guidelines which will go into effect on November 28, 2016, with the new Requirements of Participation for Phase 2.

Objectives: 

  1. Understand the new interpretive guidance for standard surveys and investigations that will take effect 11/28/17
  2. Identify the process by which the survey teams will conduct the new standard survey process in skilled nursing facilities
  3. Learn how to provide direction to the facility interdisciplinary team on survey readiness under the new protocols
  4. Receive leadership strategies to implement improvements at the organization level for positive survey outcomes

As a Director at Pathway Health, Leah has responsibility for supporting quality assurance efforts, managing relationships with government agencies, education and training, and helping to lead the regulatory compliance initiatives of the clients we serve.

As the Director of QA and Government Services her primary responsibilities include providing excellent customer service and support for Pathway’s ongoing account relationships. Other areas of responsibility include acquisition management projects, health department engagements, state and national association speaking, and also Health Information Management support of current and future changes with QAPI, compliance, HIPAA, and coding. Leah brings twenty plus years of health care operations and management experience to Pathway Health.

Continuing Education:

This educational event has been approved for up to 6.5 continuing education hours in the core of Administration for Licensed Adult Care Home Administrators, Adult Care Home Operators and Dietitians by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Health Occupations and Credentialing approved provider number (LTS A0009).
