The 2022 Joint Provider Fire Marshal is an opportunity for Kansas adult care home providers and the Office of the State Fire Marshal to come together in a cooperative training. This event is coordinated together by LeadingAge Kansas, KHCA, KACE and the OSFM.

- Top 10 Healthcare Violations & Documentation Review: Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance with OSFM (1.0 A)

- Disaster Drills and Exercises with Chuck Lane, CEM, CEDP; BluSky Restoration Contractors, LLC (1.0 A)
This session will provide participants with a review of foundational knowledge, as well as best practices, for designing, conducting, and evaluating emergency drills and exercises in their organizations. Topics covered include determining the proper type of drill or exercise, planning objectives, documentation, how to increase employee engagement, and improvement planning.

• Learning Objectives:
  By the end of this session participants will be able to describe the steps to creating an effective disaster drill and/or exercise.
  By the end of this session participants will be able to explain the improvement planning process and its importance.

- Documentation Review: Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance with OSFM (1.0 A)

- Evacuation Planning and Response with Chuck Lane, CEM, CEDP; BluSky Restoration Contractors, LLC (1.0 A)
This session will educate participants on best practices for designing plans, challenges associated with evacuation occupied healthcare spaces, and how to effectively manage various types of evacuations. Topics covered include causes of evacuations, life safety, determining evacuation priority, and case study reviews of past events.

• Learning Objectives:
  By the end of this session participants will be able to identify the order of priority for evacuating patients.
  By the end of this session participants will be able to discuss best practices for managing partial and total evacuations.

- Managing Emergencies in Patient Care Facilities with Chuck Lane, CEM, CEDP; BluSky Restoration Contractors, LLC(1.0 A)
Utilizing a case study approach, this session will educate participants on common types of events that create damaging impacts to the patient care environment and how to effectively prepare for, respond to and recover from them. Topics covered include water, fire, wind, hazardous materials and infectious disease events, and strategies for mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.

• Learning Objectives:
  By the end of this session participants will be able to discuss the difference between emergencies and disasters and their impacts on patient care.
  By the end of this session participants will be able to identify key strategies for the mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery phases of a disaster.

This educational event has been approved for up to 6.0 continuing education hours in the core of Administration for Licensed Adult Care Home Administrators, Adult Care Home Operators and Dietitians by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Health Occupations and Credentialing approved provider number (LTS A0009).

LeadingAge Kansas is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 6.0 contact hours applicable for APRN, RN, LPN or LMHT relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing provider number: LT0102-1116.
