KING is pleased to sponsor this year’s Annual Workers Compensation Seminar. This will be a virtual offering via Zoom. Seminar highlights include 2022 Safety Grant, Case Law Update, OSHA update and Shoulder Injury Rehabilitation and Return to Work.

All KING members are encouraged to have a representative attend this important event. All LeadingAge Kansas members are welcome to attend. Administrators and nurses will receive continuing education credits for attending the entire seminar.

KING is a group-funded workers compensation pool that has provided workers compensation coverage for members since April 1, 1990. KING is an innovator in workers compensation and has developed specific programs for elder care organizations:

  • Loss control programs specifically tailored for your organization
  • Innovative programs including the Safe-lift and STAR training program
  • Aggressive claims management
  • Nurse case management for incidents involving lifting or transferring of residents and other potentially difficult claims

Who Should Attend?
Human Resource Professionals, Administrators, Nurses and any staff responsible for workers’ compensation in their organization should attend.  Every KING member should have a representative attend this seminar.

Seminar Objectives

Faculty

Kevin McFarland is the President of the KING program. Kevin has been with LeadingAge Kansas & KING for nearly 33 years. Kevin manages the operation of KING – a group-funded workers compensation pool providing risk management services to over 60 LeadingAge Kansas members. Kevin earned his Bachelor Degree in Social Work from Kansas State University. He was the Director of Social Services at Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan prior to joining LeadingAge Kansas in 1985.

Jeff Cox is the Director of Alternative Risk for Thomas McGee Group. Jeff is responsible for both business development and ongoing consultation to clients who utilize alternative risk solutions in their risk management program(s). Jeff has 32 years of experience in the alternative risk arena, focusing primarily on self-insurance, pooling, and group captives. Jeff is a graduate of the University of Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1987.

Mike Entz has been the primary legal counsel for the KING program for over 13 years. Mike has defended numerous workers compensation claims and worked closely with Thomas McGee claims adjusters and LeadingAge Kansas members. Mike’s practice also involves multi-party commercial construction litigation. Mike earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in business administration from the University of Kansas, Masters Degree in Business from Washburn University and Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law.

Scott Peters, MSPT, ATC Partner is the Clinic Director of the Olathe KS and North Kansas City, MO Clinics. He specializes in sports medicine, outpatient orthopedics and rehabilitation. He joined ARC Physical Therapy after relocating from Chicago, where he worked for a physical therapy/sports medicine company. He is a Certified Post Offer Employment Testing Specialist and Level II TRX Provider. Additionally, he is trained in McKenzie Part A, B, C and D and has experience as an athletic trainer for various high school and college teams. Scott earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Central College and his Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa.

Continuing Education:
This program is approved for up to 2.0 continuing education clock hours for Licensed Adult Care Home Administrators, Adult Care Home Operators and Dietitians in the Core of Administration by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Provider number (LTS A0009). 

The Kansas State Board of Nursing approves the LeadingAge Kansas as a provider of continuing education. This course is approved for 2.0 continuing education hours applicable to RN, APRN and LPN re-licensure (KSBN LT0102-1116).
