KING is pleased to sponsor this year’s Annual Workers Compensation Seminar.
This year’s seminar highlights include the 2020 Safety Grant, Case Law Update, Head Injury Claims Best Practice and Employee Law Update.
All KING members are encouraged to have a representative attend this important event.  All LeadingAge Kansas members are welcome to attend.  Administrators and nurses will receive continuing education credits for attending the entire seminar.

KING is a group-funded workers compensation pool that has provided workers compensation coverage for members since April 1, 1990.  KING is an innovator in workers compensation and has developed specific programs for elder care organizations:

  • Loss control programs specifically tailored for your organization
  • Innovative programs including the Safe-lift and STAR 2.0 training program
  • Aggressive claims management
  • Nurse case management for incidents involving lifting or transferring of residents and other potentially difficult claims
  • $7.3 Million in dividends returned to members

Who Should Attend?
Human Resource Professionals, Administrators, Nurses and any staff responsible for workers’ compensation in their organization should attend.  Every KING member should have a representative attend this seminar.

Faculty

Kevin McFarland is the President of the KING program.  Kevin has been with LeadingAge Kansas & KING for nearly 33 years.  Kevin manages the operation of KING – a group-funded workers compensation pool providing risk management services to over 50 LeadingAge Kansas members.  Kevin earned his bachelor’s degree in social work from Kansas State University.  He was the Director of Social Services at Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan prior to joining LeadingAge Kansas in 1985.

Ed Reasoner is the Manager of Risk Management Services with Thomas McGee Group. Ed joined Thomas McGee in 2002 and has worked in the Risk Management Department since 2004. He has over 30 years industry experience working with a major insurance company and an international brokerage firm for most of his career. Ed has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Northwest Missouri State University and has obtained the professional designations of Charted Property Casualty Underwriter and Associate in Risk Management.

Mike Entz has been the primary legal counsel for the KING program for over 15 years.  Mike has defended numerous workers compensation claims and worked closely with Thomas McGee claims adjusters and LeadingAge Kansas members.  Mike’s practice also involves multi-party commercial construction litigation.  Mike earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in business administration from the University of Kansas, master’s degree in business from Washburn University and Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law.

Continuing Education:
This program is approved for up to 5.0 continuing education clock hours for Licensed Adult Care Home Administrators, Adult Care Home Operators and Dietitians in the Core of Administration by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services. Provider number (LTS A0009). 

The Kansas State Board of Nursing approves the LeadingAge Kansas as a provider of continuing education. This course is approved for 5.0 continuing education hours applicable to RN, APRN and LPN re-licensure (KSBN LT0102-1116).
