KING, the group-funded workers compensation program for members of LeadingAge Kansas, is pleased to sponsor the 2018 Safety Webinars.

Overview:
The first part of the webinar will focus on what happens AFTER an incident of violence occurs in the workplace. Strategies will be discussed on the appropriate employer response to support and nurture your staff.  The second part of the webinar will discuss proactive planning for disasters and emergencies.

Objectives:
At the completion of the webinar, participants will:

  • Identify potential strategies to deploy after an act of workplace violence
  • Learn what types of emergencies and disasters should be considered when planning or training
  • Understand the basic concept of a Business Continuation Plan

Speakers:
John Juresic is the Senior Loss Control Consultant with Thomas McGee.  John provides loss control services for the KING program.  John has over 26 years of experience in safety with a major insurance company.  His education and background are in consulting with clients on safety matters, and he was the regional leader for his prior company for ergonomic evaluations.

Travis Bennett is a Loss Control Representative with Thomas McGee and began working with KING members 5 years ago.  He holds numerous safety certifications and professional memberships.  Previously, Travis was the Environmental Safety & Health Specialist for Black & Veatch/Overland Contracting and the Safety Specialist and Safety Manager for Walton Construction Company.

Kevin McFarland is the President and Administrator of the KING program, now in its 29th year.  He has been with LeadingAge Kansas for over 32 years.  Kevin is a licensed insurance agent and social worker; and previously held the position of Director of Social Services at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community.

Continuing Education:
This program is approved for 1.0 continuing education clock hours for Adult Care Home Administrators, Adult Care Home Operators and Dietitians by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services in the core of Administration. Approved Provider number LTS A0009.

LeadingAge Kansas is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 1.0 contact hours applicable for APRN, RN, LPN or LMHT relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing provider number: LT0102-1116.
